Do we enjoy music because of the lyrics and the thought of imitating the signer or song writer?
Man is born with the instinct to imitate according to Aristotle in Poetics. Is the reason we like music so much 1. because we relate to it and 2. we learn from it? Of course commonsensical views may say it's the sound. And, well the sound does help us to remember the lyrics easier, maybe that's not the full cause. But, again, maybe it's just me on the 2nd opinion. I am just more of a lyric person. I find a kind of perfection in the sound because it matches with the lyrics. And, I hate songs where the lyrics don't match the sound. I don't mean the lyrics have to be happy in a happy melody. No, I mean it is the right pace. A certain perfection is involved in songs. Though, I also find the same kind of art in basic rhetoric and maybe I just love rhetoric. LOL. Any opinions you have on art, rhetoric or music are appreciated.
