Should we change the meaning of marriage?

in case you haven't noticed, not every in America hails from a juedeao christian heritage, and the fact that English is a living language means that the meaning of words change over time, if this were not the case we would still be speaking the English in the epic poem Beowulf. besides if Pres. Bush can change the definition of torture at will so that it better aligned with his policies than why can't we change the definition of marriage?
