Computer mouse problem?please help?

I just got a new computer(best buy) and all the components seem to work well latley the mouse seems to be having difficultly moving and the little ball keeps going in the mouse.Its really a big pain.Ido use a mouse pad and this just statred happening.Whats wrong and how can i fix it w/out buying a new one
