Like their master, Mugabe's cronies cannot be believed and what they say should be treated with contempt. The failure of the United Nations to impose sanctions on this tyrant shows just how weak and ineffective it is. The weakness of the League of Nations in the 1930s and its failure to take action against German, Italian and Japanese aggression led to the Second World War. Unless democratic countries ignore the United Nations and make a stand against dictatorship the world is heading for disaster. Mugabe is merely a pawn which China and Russia are using to humiliate the west and secure their positions in Africa. Put under pressure these two dictatorships would quickly back down. Mugabe's regime would fall and the world would be a safer place.
