Question about a story I am writing?

I have began writing a story about a werewolf. The werewolf (which everyone believes is just a rabbid wolf until the very end of the book) terrorizes a remote town in Oregon. The problem is that people have said that the werewolf story is a complete cliche and that its been overdone. Should I keep writing the story or start writing another story idea I have?
