This dream shook me up so much that I woke up! What does it mean?

I can't remember the beginning of it, but what I do remember is that I bought a new house and the man who lived in it before me left his dog. Some friends and I went to go check out the dog that he had left and it would go from being nice and sweet to vicious and me fearing that it was going to attack me depending on how I was around it or what I said. I then remember there was a racoon in the backyard and the dog saw it and chased it visciously to kill it, but the coon got away...then a friend of mine was standing in the middle of the backyard and I saw this huge rat near her and I scream "THERE IS A RAT NEAR YOU!" and the dog started to chase it, but as soon as I said it, the rat starts running towards me on purpose and it just launched towards me and that's when I woke up all startled...I just started dating someone new...last relationship was 5 months ago, but that's all that's really going on in my life that I can relate this dream to?
